Beaver Scout Leader (BSL)

Roz Woodyardsample
Myself and my husband Peter both became involved with the group in 1988 when our eldest son Samuel joined Beavers. We both did stints on the rota, Peter more than myself because of 1 older and 3 younger siblings. Patrick joined Beavers in 1994, followed by Dominic in 1998. I became Beaver leader in 2000 when the position became vacant as no one else was prepared to take on the job.

Scout Leader (SL)

Tom Fisktom
I joined the group in 1992 as a Beaver, and moved through Cubs and then into Scouts. In 2000 after being with the group for some 8 years I left due to starting my GCSE's and this was at the time when Venture Scouts was being replace by Explorers and Network Scouts.  4 years later, in 2004 I had my arm twisted to come and help out with a Scout Camp which was being run down at the HQ. After this event, I submitted an application to become Assistant Scout Leader (ASL) and within 3 years the leadership team had changed, and this resulted in me becoming Scout Leader.

Assistant Scout Leader (ASL)

Phil Debenhamphil
I began helping with the Scout section in 2006 in my spare time when not away studying at college. I fully joined the group in early 2008, first as a Troop helper, then when the opportunity arose It took on the role of Explorer Scout Leader. As the Explorer Unit was newly setup we have run some linking evenings with the Scout Sections at both the 16th and 27th Norwich to recruit members.  My ambition is to continue building the Explorer Unit to be as successful as some of the other units within the district and to encourage the older Scouts to move up to Explorers rather than leaving the association.

Explorers have the opportunity to work towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE), a section of which requires giving up spare time to help out voluntarily with another group.  As part of this, we encourage the Explorers to work toward the Young Leader Scheme.  This allows them to help out with one of the other Scouting Sections proving that they have been away from that particular section for at least 6 months. By being involved with this, the Explorers learn key life skills such as leadership, organisation and management.

During my free time, I enjoy my Land Rover and clay pigeon shooting.
