Explorers

What is Explorer Scouts?

Explorers are aged between 14 and 18 and the unit is open to males and females with the aim that they take part and enjoy an active, exciting, fun, educational and adventurous programme of activities both on a unit basis and with the other District Explorers.

What Kind of Activities?

Our activities are about action and involvement and mean more than just camping. Hiking, climbing, sailing, pioneering, skiing, canoeing, abseiling, motor mechanics, electronics, photography - the list is endless! Scouts are also given the chance to learn life skills, such as survival, leadership, cooking and first aid.

As a unit we camp as least once every year for a week, and there are many opportunities for weekend camps (including competitions and award based training)

Is Explorer Scouts for Me?

Explorers is for young people who want a break from the usual after school routine of homework, games and watching television. The best way to find out what Scouts is all about is to try it for yourself!

Where & When?

The Nelson's Victory Explorer Sea Scout Unit meets every other Wednesday evening during school term time from 19:30 - 21:30 at the Old Costessey Scout headquarters.
